I-Share & PrimoVE Discovery

Beginning July 16, 2024, the library will transition from Encore, the online catalog, to a new discovery system, PrimoVE. We will also become a member library of I-Share. You will need to change any library items you have linked from Encore in your Canvas course shells.

PrimoVE will search physical and electronic materials with one search box and allow users to place requests for items at CLC and through i-Share libraries. Users will also be able to view their account, items checked out, items requested through I-Share, and renew materials.

New to the PrimoVE Discovery System:

• Integrated search for physical library books, music and scores
• Integrated search across databases for electronic books, articles, journals, streaming audio and video
• Streamlined ability to check library accounts, holds, loans, renewals
• Increased availability to borrow materials from Illinois research libraries through iShare

The I-Share integrated library system serves as the online public catalog for CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois) member libraries.

I-Share provides participating libraries with:

• an online catalog of their own collection as well as a merged, union catalog of the holdings of all I-Share libraries
• supports resource sharing among participating libraries
• supports library collection management functions including circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, serials control, course reserves and reporting.
• runs on the Alma and Primo VE platform from Ex Libris Group.
